We Just Witnessed The Media's Test Run To Re-Elect Barack Obama

If Republicans want to know exactly what not to do to win in 2012, then follow advice similar to that offered by David Frum as to why Sarah Palin should "stop talking now" about the false accusations that she was responsible for the Tucson shooting:

"There is no one left in America that would blame her.”

Oh really?  Two polls show otherwise.

I previously posted about a CNN poll showing that 35% of all people (including 56% of Democrats and 34% of Independents) believe that Palin has a great deal or moderate amount of responsibility for the shooting.  A PPP poll reflects that 26% of all people (including 45% of Democrats and 22% of Independents) believe Palin bears "at least some responsibility" for the shooting.

These are big numbers, considering that there is no evidence as of this date that Jared Loughner ever even saw the Palin electoral target map which put Palin at the center of attacks over the shooting.

The false connection of the Palin electoral target map to the shooting did not start in the mainstream media.  As I have documented, that false connection started with bloggers at DailyKos and Think Progress using Twitter to push the issue into the mainstream media within hours of the shooting with the help of their followers.  

The ruthless efficiency with which the left-wing blogosphere tied Palin to the shooting, and the success of their efforts in equating Palin with mass murder, is a lesson we should not forget.

The Democrats and their mainstream media supporters were put back on their heels in 2010, and are regrouping. And if regrouping requires falsely accusing a major Republican figure of complicity in mass murder, and then amplifying that false accusation for several days in the face of contrary evidence until a substantial portion of the population believes it, they will do it.

But it did not stop with the accusation.  When Palin tried to defend herself she was savaged again in the mainstream media.

Palin supposedly didn't issue a statement soon enough or she issued it too soon; she was accused of using the term "blood libel" improperly by people who had used the term themselves in less dire circumstances; she was making it all about her; her tone was not right; she didn't really feel what she was saying, and so on and so on.  

Having created a false narrative of Palin's responsibility for the shooting, the mainstream media tried to deprive Palin of the ability to defend herself against the charges.  And unfortunately, some who supposedly are on our side have jumped on that bandwagon.

And all the while, Barack Obama stood back for days and let his supporters in the media rip Palin apart, much as he left it to his supporters to go after the Clintons during the primary, only then to proclaim that we don't really know why Jared Loughner did what he did.  And the media narrative was how wonderful Obama was, how he helped heal the nation.

Any Republican or conservative or Tea Party supporter who dumps on Palin in any way over the Tucson shooting or her defense of herself should just stop talking now.

It does not matter whether you support Palin for President, whether you think she is electable, or even whether you like her.  This is not about Palin, it is about the mainstream media's desire to have Barack Obama re-elected at any cost and to take down any Republican candidate who stands in the way.

I'll take it one step further, and agree with John Ziegler (h/t HotAir) that there may not be any Republican candidate other than Palin who can withstand the reinvigorated Obama media juggernaut:

Everyone else will inevitably melt (like even grizzled veteran John McCain did) when they get close to the blast furnace that will be going up against the Obama juggernaut. Far more than anyone else in conservative history, Palin has been forced to prove just how fireproof her convictions are and how deep her resolve is.

In the vile attempt to tie Palin to the Tucson shooting we have witnessed the test run for how the left-wing blogosphere will target Republican candidates and propel false narratives into the mainstream media, and how the mainstream media will take those narratives and run with them.

If Palin is taken down politically over the Tucson shooting, there is not a single Republican candidate who can survive the coming onslaught.

This is the astonishing moment a book was apparently hurled at the head of U.S. President Barack Obama during a campaign rally in Philadelphia.

The flying missile narrowly missed hitting the President yesterday.

It is not clear what the book was, where it came from in the crowd, or why it was thrown at Mr Obama - who did not appear to notice the danger.

But it is expected that there will be fallout from the security breach as the Secret Service investigates how close the President came to danger.

The rally was clearly an eventful one - other images showed a naked man being led away in handcuffs by police.
It is not clear if the man was involved in the book-throwing incident - or why he was not wearing any clothes.

The bizarre incident recalled the moment in 2008 when an angry Iraqi journalist hurled a shoe at then-U.S. President George Bush during a press conference in Baghdad.

The surprisingly nimble Mr Bush ducked the shoe - and the moment became immortalised with online parodies and internet video games.

But the incident was also marked with controversy as U.S. media questioned why the Secret Service - whose members are supposed to be willing to take a bullet for the President - were not close enough to Mr Bush to deflect the attack.

It is expected that the same questions will be asked about yesterday's incident.

He gives a few disclaimers first as to what he considers to be a lie, take a look and then you judge, it’s an amazing compilation!

Barack Obama’s close family friends, terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, and top campaign bundler Jodie Evans from Code Pink are top activists with the Gaza flotilla group that attacked the IDF today.

Code Pink activist and radical leftist Jodie Evans was one of Barack Obama’s top bundlers during the 2008 campaign. This radical also tried to rushed the stage during Sarah Palin's speech at the RNC convention in Minneapolis, MN.

Aaron Klein, Jerusalem bureau chief for World Net Daily, reports from New York:

The group behind the Gaza flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli commandoes today counts among its top activists Weather Underground terrorist founders William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink.

Ayers and Dohrn were close associates for years with President Obama, while Evans was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign.

Earlier today, Israeli navy commandos raided the six-ship flotilla, encountering heavy resistance and live fire from the activists. Nine activists were killed and dozens of others were reportedly injured, as were several of the Israeli commandoes.

The flotilla was organized by the Free Gaza Movement, a coalition of leftist human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups engaged in attempts to break a blockade imposed by Israel on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Ayers, Dohrn and Evans’ Code Pink have led several recent Free Gaza Movement initiatives, including attempted marches into the Gaza Strip. Dorhn was in the Middle East just last month on behalf of the movement.

While intercepting the Mavi Marmara ship, 7 soldiers were injured and 9 flotilla participants were killed. Upon boarding the ship the soldiers were attacked by the masses with knives, clubs, and live fire, and were forced to return fire.  The other ships cooperated with security forces. 

Early Monday morning (May 31), Israeli Navy fighters intercepted six ships attempting to break the maritime closure of the Gaza Strip and rejecting the warning calls by Israel and the Navy which were issued before the interception. They also ignored the invitation to anchor at the Ashdod port in order to transfer the humanitarian supplies using Israeli means.

On five of the six ships of the flotilla, the soldiers met without any resistance from the passengers, and the ships were brought to the Ashdod port where the passengers are cooperating with Israeli security forces.

During the boarding of the Mavi Marmara ship, the largest of the flotilla’s ships which held hundreds of people, the Israeli Navy soldiers were attacked with gunfire, stun grenades, knives, and clubs. The demonstrators stole two pistols from the soldiers and also used these to shoot at the soldiers.

School Pulls Student's Painting of 'Communist Obama'

Hallsville, MO — Art teacher Brittany Williamson said her student simply wanted to “get a reaction” with his painting that depicted President Barack Obama with a hammer and sickle symbolizing communism.

“That’s the whole purpose of art — to get a reaction,” Williamson said.

Although Williamson thought the Hallsville High School sophomore’s painting was “an amazing piece,” it received not-so-amazing critiques from some school staff and visitors who complained to Williamson and Superintendent John Robertson. The painting was taken down Monday after being displayed for nearly two weeks.

Robertson said the piece was removed because it could have been construed to reflect an official position of the school district.

“The district really can’t express political views,” Robertson said, explaining that he talked to Williamson and the student about the issue. “I told him as an artist he certainly has the right to express his opinions but we didn’t have to hang it up.”

Williamson said she did not want the student to remove the artwork but that other teachers had asked her to take it down. The student has since taken the painting home.

Robertson said if the painting had been a part of a display that was politically themed, “that would be a whole, total different thing.”  “It was the only” political “piece that was up,” Williamson said, “so it made it look like the school felt that way.”
